Parents are the foremost educators to their children about sex. And if you are anything like me, when you learned this you might have felt a little intimidated. Maybe you don’t feel like you know enough or even how to have these types of conversations with your kids. Beginning on November 14th parents of children and youth are invited to join Samantha on Zoom from 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm for twelve sessions where parents and caregivers can explore their role as the primary sexuality educators of their elementary through teenage children. Adults will engage with topics including Gender Identity, Relationships, Social Media, Unintended Pregnancy, and Consent. 

We will explore the following topics on these dates:

Nov. 14th - Hopes and Concerns for Kids’ Sexual Health Dec. 5th - Communication: How Do We Talk about Sex? Dec. 12th - Gender Identity: Exploring Emotions Around Gender Jan. 9th: Sexual Orientation: Supporting Self-Discovery Jan. 24th - Relationships: Guiding with Wisdom Jan. 30th - Sexual Health: Be a Trusted Source Feb. 6th - Decision Making: Ready, Set, Let Go! Feb. 13th - Consent: Building Healthy Boundaries Feb. 28th - Social Media: Integrity in a Changing World Mar. 5th - Pornography: It's Not Sex Ed Mar. 19th - Unintended Pregnancy Apr. 2nd - Ethical Non-Monogamy

The information and attitudes that adults share with their children—intentionally or by default—carry extraordinary power. Many adults struggle to wield this power effectively and confidently. Often, their own experiences, perspectives, and worries get in the way. These sessions invite parents and caregivers to find support and courage with one another.

Note: Most sessions are scheduled for Tuesdays, but some sessions are scheduled for another day to accommodate other church events. You do not need to attend all sessions. Please still register even if you think you will only attend one session.
